Amorim rejected the idea of emergency signings to compensate for the loss of three players who are going to the African Cup of Nations (Diallo, Mazrawi, Mbemo).
“The only thing we will try to do now and at the end of the season is to bring in players who are perfect for our future. We are not going to buy someone just to deal with temporary losses during the tournament,” Amorim was quoted as saying by Goal.
Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenho became the Red Devils’ priority for January. Manchester United are reportedly seriously considering activating his £65m release clause.
The main reason for Amorim’s interest is the versatility of the Ghanaian. In his 3-4-3 tactical scheme, the coach sees Semenyo not just as a winger, but as an ideal attacking lateral (wing-back). Amorim has publicly emphasized that Semenyo is equally dangerous on both flanks, a rare and valuable quality in his system.
The player has explosive speed and the ability to win duels, which is critical for Amorim’s high pressing. Unlike players from other championships, Antoine is already adapted to the speed of English football and is ready to give results immediately.
Semenho is having the best stretch of his career, showing consistent performance in the Cherries. In 17 matches for Bournemouth in all competitions, he scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists.
In addition to the offensive line, Amorim is looking to strengthen the center of the field. The Mancunians currently have three candidates on their shortlist: Ruben Neves (Al Hilal) is an experienced Portuguese who could return to the Premier League. Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid). Tyler Adams (Bournemouth).
