Life in Izmail, Reni and other settlements on the Dniester is secured, and local authorities are working on expanding logistics for the delivery of food, medicine and pension payments. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and the Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba during the briefing.
“We were in different communities, talked with leaders. The situation is absolutely normal. Yesterday, people were confused by the fact that there would be no products, how to get pensions… Today, when the situation has leveled out, there were no questions at all. In general, very stable people, and I did not hear any fears or complaints,” Kuleba noted.
The life of Izmail, Reni and other settlements on the other side of the Dniester is supported thanks to the pontoon crossing. For passage, priority is given to cars with urgent cargo, such as food and medicine. Collection is also carried out for timely payments of pensions and benefits.
“During the week, we will deploy two alternative ways of logistics. One will be permanent, the other will be another pontoon bridge. This is a short-term perspective. And within two months, we will make two additional alternative ways to increase the transport supply on both sides of the Dniester River,” Kuleba added.
The authorities are already working on the possibility of expanding logistics capabilities in order to quickly deliver the necessary goods if necessary. Such work allows local residents to feel safe and not worry about food or pensions. “The situation is under control, people can live as usual. Evacuation is not necessary now,” Kuleba summarized.
