Inter opened the scoring in the 2nd minute – Marcus Thuram blocked Alessandro Bastoni’s pass, but Bologna gradually seized the initiative and equalized in the 35th minute: Riccardo Orsolini confidently converted the penalty awarded after a VAR review for Yann Bissek’s handball.
In the second half, the teams had chances to win, the referee even initially awarded a penalty in favor of Inter, but after a video review, the decision was overturned. According to the rules of the tournament, extra time was not foreseen, so the fate of the ticket to the final was decided by a series of penalties.
In the end, Bologna became the winner: the teams missed several shots in a row, and Ciro Immobile made the decisive shot – 3:2 in the series. Thus, Bologna reached the final of the Italian Super Cup, where they will meet with Napoli on December 22.
