Details: It is noted that this decision was taken after a similar proposal failed in the EU on Friday, December 19. Instead, the leaders of the European Union concluded an agreement to provide Ukraine with a loan in the amount of 90 billion euros, borrowed against the common budget of the bloc.
The representative of the government emphasized that Great Britain will continue to act exclusively within the framework of agreements with the G7 countries and the European Union.
In her turn, the head of the Ministry of Finance of Great Britain, Rachel Reese, assured that the country will cooperate with partners “as a matter of urgency” to provide Kyiv with the necessary funding. According to her, Great Britain’s support for Ukraine remains “unshakable”.
The government of Great Britain announced the “repurposing” of credit guarantees in the amount of 2 billion dollars. These commitments were extended until 2026 to meet the urgent needs of the Ukrainian budget.
Prehistory:
- Summit of the European Union confirmed decision on joint borrowing for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 90 billion.
- Earlier reportedthat the European Commission proposes to divide the “reparation loan” into two areas of support for Ukraine: production and purchase of weapons and budget support. Budgetary support will amount to 90 billion euros and will be provided over two years.
