In the first of two control matches of preparation for Euro-2026, the Ukrainian futsal team met with the current European champions, Portugal. The game took place on December 19 in Tavira, Portugal, and ended in a 1:1 draw.

The Ukrainians opened the scoring in the 12th minute: Daniil Abakshin picked up the ball and passed it to Ihor Korsun, who successfully beat the opponent’s goalkeeper. Already in the 17th minute, Ruben Goish equalized the score after an accurate shot into the nine.

During the match, both teams had chances to score, but the defenses and goalkeepers acted with confidence.

In the second half, 18-year-old Illya Prykhodko made his debut on the court, who immediately got involved in attacking actions, creating opportunities for the team. Despite the chances of Korsun and other players, the score remained unchanged.

A draw with Portugal interrupted Ukraine’s 12-game winning streak. The second sparring between the teams will take place on Sunday.
