“(We want. – Ed.) to determine the positions of both sides and see if we can bring them closer to each other to reach some kind of agreement. Settlement negotiations require two things: both sides must get something and both sides must give something,” said the Secretary of State.

“And we are trying to find out what Russia can give and what it expects to get? What can Ukraine give and what can it expect to get? In the end, the decision will be up to Ukraine, not Russia or the United States,” he added.

Rubio said it’s “not about forcing a deal on somebody,” but about trying to find points of “intersection” of interests.

“I think we’ve made progress, but we still have a lot of work to do, and it’s clear that the most difficult questions always come last,” he added.

We will remind that the representative of the head of the Kremlin, Kyrylo Dmitriev will visit Miami on December 20-21 for negotiations with the representative of the American president, Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, regarding the “peace plan” of the United States.

Secretary of the National Security Council Rustem Umyerov reportedthat on December 19, they and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov, will begin another round of consultations with the American side.
