Trump signed the US defense budget, which provides for assistance to Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has signed into law the defense budget bill for 2026 with a budget of 901 billion dollars. The document also provides for assistance to Ukraine.

Details: Document entitled S. 1071, the National Defense Act for Fiscal Year 2026, was signed by Trump on Thursday, December 18. And it has already entered into force.

The law regulates the financing of programs of the Ministry of Defense, military construction, as well as national security programs, which are coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and the State Department.

In addition, it also covers measures to improve the welfare of military personnel and establishes new powers to implement changes in the areas of national and international security, trade and the judiciary.

The document signed by Trump provides for annual military spending of $901 billion.

As for Ukraine, the document envisages $800 million – $400 million in 2026 and 2027 – as part of the Security Assistance Initiative, which provides for the purchase of American weapons for the Armed Forces.

• On December 17, the US Senate by an overwhelming majority of votes supported the law on national defense for 2026which provides for a record defense budget.
• The draft law as well provides for the allocation of 400 million dollars to the Pentagon’s efforts to arm and equip the Ukrainian army, despite Trump’s attempt to pressure Kyiv to make an agreement with Moscow and end the war.
