Blox became the first semifinalist of the Next Gen ATP Finals thanks to two victories in the opening two rounds of the Red Group.
On December 17, he beat Germany’s Justin Engel in four sets (ATP 187) [3:4 (7:9), 4:2, 4:2, 4:2]and today, on the 18th, in three games he coped with the American Nishesh Basavareddy (ATP 167) [4:3 (7:3), 4:3 (10:8), 4:1].
Bloks is the son of Ukrainian athletes. His father, Oleg, specialized in hurdles, and his mother, Natalia, was a professional swimmer. Alexander’s parents moved to Belgium about thirty years ago.
Bloks is performing for the first time in his career at the youth final. He also became the first Belgian to reach the semi-finals of Next Gen.
In the last, third round of the quartet, Alexander will meet Dino Pryzhmych.
