Turkish businessman Ismail Hadjioglu said that he planned to launch an enterprise for the production of elevators and spare parts for them in the summer of 2022 in Mariupol. The plant was supposed to serve Ukraine and European countries.
In March 2022, the Russian occupiers bombed the company’s buildings — the office, warehouses and production shops — and looted the equipment and finished products, Hadjioglu shared.
In addition, the businessman is wanted in Russia because of his pro-Ukrainian position, and he does not have access to property and goods in Mariupol. The businessman applied for compensation through the Dnipro prosecutor’s office, but doubts that the losses will be compensated.
Hadjioglu actively helped with the evacuation of people at the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russia: citizens of Turkey and other countries, as well as Ukrainian women and children, were taken out of the dangerous regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
The businessman emphasizes that Ukraine is his second homeland: his wife is Ukrainian, his daughter lives in Ukraine, and his son-in-law is fighting at the front. Despite the loss of a large part of the capital, Hadjioglu is planning new projects to rebuild the country.
EkoAvrasya plans to create joint Turkish-Ukrainian industrial zones, restore an elevator factory, build housing and workplaces, and launch a halal meat processing plant. Next year, Hadjioglu plans to take part in the big Turkey-Ukraine business forum.
In addition, in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Russian troops have set up a new military and police base.
We will remind, more than 15 trucks with Chechen fighters were recorded in the temporarily occupied Mariupol of the Donetsk region. They came from Russia.
Also, we previously reported that in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, the Russian invaders are preparing to demolish private houses in the Havan district – this is the last surviving historical part of the city.
