Ronnie O’Sullivan is set to return to the German Masters for the first time since 2017 
O’Sullivan is due to face Haris Tahir, Zhao Hanyang or Long Zehuang in his opening match The Rocket has not played in the Berlin tournament in nine years after his Last 32 loss to Mark King.
The Wordsley star almost made the 2022 edition but lost 5-0 to Hossein Vafaei in the opening round of qualifying.
Ever since his last appearance, O’Sullivan has either not entered or withdrawn.
That is why German snooker fans may not be getting too excited about the prospect of seeing the legendary player live, given his past of pulling out after entering the draw – including last season.
The seven-time world champion is due to face Haris Tahir, Zhao Hanyang or Long Zehuang in his opening match.
There will be two rounds of qualifying, but the top 16 seeds -which include O’Sullivan – have already made the cut.
Only Ding Junhui is absent of the world’s best 16, with Chris Wakelin taking a seeded spot as he’s world No17.
O’Sullivan won the 1996 German Open, before it was renamed as the German Masters.

The snooker legend also went on to win the 2012 edition with an impressive performance.
Kyren Wilson emerged victorious last year in Berlin and won the tournament for the second time.
