Details: According to the investigation materials, the resident of Kharkiv, working as an administrator of a medical clinic, participated in the recruitment of women, mainly from the Kharkiv region, to participate in surrogate motherhood programs. Women were misled by being told that they would bear children for married couples and that their involvement was limited to carrying and giving birth to the child.

After giving birth, surrogate mothers were forced to register newborns in their own names and to give consent for the foreign father to take the child abroad. In case of disagreement, they were threatened with incomplete payment of the promised remuneration.
Law enforcement officers exposed the scheme in 2023.
12 people were involved in the illegal “business”, including: translators, lawyers, medical workers, and managers.
In August 2023, all twelve members of the criminal organization were notified of suspicion of human trafficking and participation in a criminal organization (Part 4 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 149, Part 1, Part 2 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The suspect and three other members of the organized group were declared on the state and international wanted list. As a result of cooperation between the prosecutor’s office, the police, Interpol and the competent authorities of Germany, on December 8, 2025, the woman was handed over to the Ukrainian side at the international checkpoint “Krakivets” (“Korchova”) in the Lviv region.
The court chose a preventive measure for her in the form of detention.
