After the end of the game, defender Valery Bondar commented on the performance of his own team.
“As the Mister said before the game, we have to demonstrate everything that we have been working on for these months. It was very difficult at the meeting and during the season: there were good moments, there were negative ones, but we coped with everything and, I think, we went through this path quite well.
Of course, some things are not satisfactory, in particular the tournament position in the championship. We wanted more, and I think we could have done more for it. However, if we sum up these six months, then both we and the fans can be more or less satisfied with the result and the game that was demonstrated during this period.
However, there is a lot to work on, plenty of time and meetings ahead, but there is still an important match to end the year on a positive note.
In terms of team progression, I think everyone is seeing everyone grow and get playing time on the football field. Probably, there is no such team in any team, so that every football player plays like this and gets a chance. Everyone just grows with him and his coaching staff, and he brought something new, while at the same time we don’t give up what Shakhtar always had, in particular aggressive pressing, passing game.
At the same time, a lot of work was added in defense – both during pressing and actions in the low block. A lot of work was done with him, but I think we still have a lot to do at the meeting, because not everything was done as well as he wanted. You need to move forward step by step and improve.
Regarding myself, I can say that I also had a good half of the season, but there is a lot to work on. I’m always dissatisfied with something – my game or the team’s, because you always want to improve and be the best version of yourself, and this also applies to our team.
First of all, I want to congratulate all our fans on New Year’s holidays and Christmas and wish them good health and a peaceful sky above their heads. I want the war to finally end and everyone who is currently away from home to return and celebrate the New Year in their homes, in a peaceful country.

I saw it and felt the support of our fans and ultras who came to the matches and at the same time fight – great respect and sincere thanks for being there for us regardless of the result. Shakhtar Donetsk will host Lviv Karpaty in the next round.
