The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, reacted to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s indignation over the EU’s decision regarding Russian assets, calling it “the most valuable frozen Russian asset in Europe.”
Sibig posted the corresponding post on the X social network, commenting on the post of Orbán himself, in which he complains about the politics of Brussels.
“Bypassing Hungary and violating European legislation in broad daylight, the people of Brussels are taking steps to seize frozen Russian assets – this is a declaration of war. Meanwhile, they are demanding an additional €135 billion from member states to fuel the conflict. Hungary will not participate in this bizarre Brussels scheme,” Orbán wrote.
On this very occasion, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, said that Orbán deserved his Order of Lenin.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced his intention to take with him to Brussels to the EU summit more than one and a half million questionnaires of the so-called “national consultation”, in which, according to him, citizens allegedly rejected support for Ukraine.
The “national consultation” is a propaganda tool of Viktor Orbán’s government that simulates a nationwide poll, but does not actually contain any safeguards against abuse. The Hungarian authorities often use the results of these “consultations” for propaganda purposes, substituting them for public opinion polls. Thus, Orban previously made public the results of a pseudo-referendum on Ukraine’s European integration.
Thus, the Hungarian government initiated new “national consultations” on the issue of raising taxes, while lying that such a step is a requirement of the European Union to finance Ukraine and the “war”.
