Details: WSJ writes: French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are expected to take part in negotiations with Witkoff in Berlin.
What preceded: Earlier, representatives of the German government reported that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, should arrive in the capital of Germany on Monday, December 15.
The invitation came after a tense phone call Wednesday between Mertz, Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer and Donald Trump, in which the sides tried to bridge differences over the direction of peace efforts.
Trump later acknowledged the controversy, saying there were “pretty strong words” during the conversation, highlighting differences over the approach the US supports.
We will remind: The day before, Trump said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is allegedly the only one who does not like the plan proposed by Washington to end the war, while his entourage supports this project.
He also confirmed his intention to participate in providing security guarantees to Ukraine within the framework of a potential peace agreement.
