“According to the results of the consultations, the document was revised and is now being prepared for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, after which it will be submitted for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada,” she said.
The draft of the new Labor Code systematically modernizes the regulation of labor relations. It provides for the digitization of key procedures, introduces a transparent mechanism for determining the minimum wage, expands the list of types of employment contracts, and strengthens the protection of workers, in particular representatives of vulnerable groups.
“The document establishes a balanced approach to the rights and obligations of employees and employers, introduces a risk-oriented model of labor inspection and implements the main directives of the EU in the field of labor,” the report says.
Among the key advantages of the project are clear rules for flexible forms of employment (remote work, flexible working hours, part-time employment), better protection of employees with family responsibilities, veterans and people with disabilities, unified requirements for recording working conditions in electronic form, as well as more predictable inspection procedures for employers.
Special attention is paid to the prevention of undeclared work, regulation of new employment models and simplification of business interaction with state supervision bodies.
“The new Labor Code should become the legal basis for the implementation of the Obryi Employment Strategy and Labor Market Reform project,” said Daria Marchak, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
“It combines European standards of worker protection with the flexibility required by business and creates prerequisites for expanding formal employment, increasing labor productivity and better protection of human rights in Ukraine, including labor rights,” she said.
