Details: According to the spokesperson of the Border Service, Lt. Col. Andrzej Juzwiak, the tunnel was discovered on December 11 near Narewka in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

On the same day, over 180 foreigners crossed the Polish-Belarusian border through it. Law enforcement officers detained 130 of them, the search for the remaining violators continues.
Yuzvyak specified that the tunnel is several tens of meters long and about 1.5 m high. It passes under the barrier and the service road. Its entrance, hidden in the forest, is located about 50 meters from the Belarusian side of the border, and its exit is about 10 meters from the barrier on the Polish side.
According to the spokesman, the detained foreigners were mainly citizens of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the rest were citizens of India, Nepal, Bangladesh and other countries.
Yuzwiak also reported that border guards detained two drivers – a 69-year-old resident of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and a 49-year-old citizen of Lithuania – who came to pick up migrants and were supposed to transport them to Western Europe.
The Border Service reported that this is the fourth tunnel under the Polish-Belarusian border discovered this year by employees of the Border Service of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
Prehistory:
- In October, it was reported that unknown persons had dug a tunnel several tens of meters under the fence on the border between Poland and Belarus. The trench began on the Belarusian side and ended approximately 20 meters from the fence on the Polish side.
- As of early November, it was known that since 2021, when the migration crisis caused by Belarus began, more than 200,000 illegal migrants have been refused entry to Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.
