In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the 10th anniversary charity auction was held, at which an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, given by Metropolitan Epiphanius, was sold for 1 million hryvnias.
The head of the Ivano-Frankivsk OVA Svitlana Onyshchuk announced this on Facebook.
“The 10th anniversary charity auction has started in support of two military formations of the region – the 102nd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ivano-Frankivsk Armed Forces and the 50th regiment named after Colonel Semyon Vysochan of the National Guard of Ukraine. The lot given by Metropolitan Epiphanius was the first to go under the hammer. This is the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which contributed to the strengthening of the army and the preservation of Ukraine and brought UAH 1 million,” Onyshchuk said.
The auction program included almost 50 lots, the proceeds of which will be directed to support 102 separate brigades of the Territorial Defense Forces and 50 regiments of the National Guard of Ukraine.
According to the results of the auction, the organizers were able to collect more than 12 million hryvnias for the needs of the army. The event was yet another demonstration of public support for the military and local government initiatives, which is especially important in these challenging times. Further auctions may include new lots to finance various military projects and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
