“The perpetrators, on the instructions of the so-called “curator”, made homemade remote explosive devices and planted them on the patrol route of the law enforcement officers. As a result of the first explosion, a soldier of the National Guard was killed and two more people were injured, including his partner and a guard of the construction site, and as a result of the second explosion, two policemen who arrived on call were injured,” the message states.
According to the information of the head of the capital police, Dmytro Shumeik, the law enforcement officers established within a few hours that three men aged 23, 25 and 27, who came to the capital to earn money, were involved in the terrorist attack.
“One of the figures in the messenger received a “task” from a so-called curator from the Russian Federation about the need to carry out a terrorist attack in the capital in exchange for a monetary reward. Therefore, the sections made homemade explosive devices and, on the instructions of the enemy special services, disguised them in garbage on the patrol route of law enforcement officers, and also placed mobile phones nearby that broadcast video in real time. When the National Guard unit approached the trap set by the attackers, an explosion occurred, as a result of which one of them died and another was injured. A security guard of the construction site, who was nearby, was also injured. At the time when policemen and medics arrived at the scene, a second explosion took place, as a result of which two patrol policemen were injured. They are currently in the hospital,” Shumeiko said.
The law enforcement officers indicate that they detained the suspects in a rented apartment in the capital and seized physical evidence indicating their involvement in the commission of the crime. The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU in accordance with Part 3 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a terrorist act that resulted in the death of a person. The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment.
