FIFA informed the national associations about the allocation of places for the group stage and the final. The cheapest ticket has become almost seven times more expensive than the 2022 World Cup, where the minimum price was 450 pounds ($600).
According to the BBC, tickets for England’s match with Croatia on June 17 start at £198 ($265). Prices start at 507 pounds ($680) for the quarterfinals, and 686 pounds ($920) for the semifinals.
The Football Fans of Europe fan association said it was “shocked” by FIFA’s pricing policy and called it “robbery”. The organization demands to suspend the sale and return the available categories, because their absence contradicts the traditions of the tournament and devalues the role of fans.
The 2018 application promised tickets starting at $21, and the path to the finals in the cheapest category was supposed to cost $2,242. “These promises have long been lost,” the group’s representatives emphasized.
