Ukraine, Germany, France and the United Kingdom will be represented at the meeting by their national security advisers, the publication notes, without specifying details and names. It is not known whether US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is also Trump’s national security adviser, will attend.
Rubio led the U.S. delegation to talks with Ukraine in Geneva three weeks ago, but since then Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner have been conducting the talks.
Prehistory:
- On Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the “compromise vision” of the US regarding control over Donbas, currently controlled by Ukraine, is that Ukrainian troops withdraw from the territory of Donetsk region, and Russian troops do not enter there.
- Zelensky also said that the American side did not put forward a hard date by which US President Donald Trump would like to see a ready-made agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
