Girona head coach Michel Sanchez has commented on the situation with the possible departure of Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, who joined the club in the summer of 2025 on loan until the end of the season.

According to the coach, Livakovic is not interested in playing for Girona and wants to move to another club, putting the preparation for the 2026 World Cup first. Sanchez noted that due to the goalkeeper’s reluctance to play for the club, another goalkeeper, Paulo Gassaniga, was forced to take the field in the last 32 of the Copa del Rey despite being ill. “I am very angry about this situation,” the head coach emphasized.

Earlier it was reported that the 30-year-old Livakovic informed the management of Girona that he is not going to appear on the field even if the main goalkeeper is injured. The football player is dissatisfied with his position in the club and wants to leave the team as soon as possible.

Livaković’s loan deal with Girona runs until the summer of 2026, while his permanent contract with Fenerbahce runs until 2028.
