The changes, first spotted by Dust2.us, require both ranked and unranked tournaments to comply with clause 2.4.e of the Limited Game Tournament License. This clause prohibits licensees from distributing or displaying, including in game form, any content or materials that violate IP Valve or the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

The examples list “game case opening and skin trading sites”, and the restrictions apply to all content that ends up in the stream. This means that teams are not allowed to display such sponsors on their jerseys.

The impact of the changes on the eSports ecosystem is still difficult to assess, as a number of leading clubs already have contracts in place with skin sites, as do many smaller organizations and tournament operators.

Some clubs have already changed their uniforms to versions without sponsor logos before coming to Budapest.
