In December, audits will begin in Ukraine in the military industry and at state-owned enterprises, in particular in the field of defense procurement.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko announced plans for inspections at 22 enterprises of JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry” and the “Defense Procurement Agency”. Audits are aimed at increasing transparency and efficiency in spending budget funds.
Control over inspections is entrusted to the State Audit Service, which must report on the results every week. The Prime Minister conveyed that as a result of the monitoring, imperfections in procurement have already been revealed.
This initiative is also part of a broader reform announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, regarding the reboot of supervisory boards in the key areas of state security and energy.
Governance efficiency and transparency in the defense sector are becoming increasingly important issues for the Ukrainian government, which, in turn, may affect the country’s international relations and its ability to defend itself in the face of armed conflict.
