US President Donald Trump said that European leaders want to meet with representatives of the US and Ukraine this weekend.

According to him, the US “wants to know some things” before the meeting and “doesn’t want to waste time.”

“We discussed Ukraine in rather sharp words. We’ll see what happens. We are waiting to hear back before moving forward…They want us to go to a meeting in Europe this weekend. And we will make a decision depending on what they come back with. We don’t want to waste time. Sometimes you have to let people figure things out for themselves, and sometimes you don’t. But the problem is that when you let people figure things out for themselves, thousands of people die every week. This is absurd,” he said, talking about his conversation with European leaders.

On December 10, the leaders of France, Great Britain and Germany discussed the problem of a peaceful settlement of the war between Russia and Ukraine with US President Donald Trump, trying to “try to move forward”. According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the conversation lasted 40 minutes.

According to Bloomberg, Ukraine sent Washington a revised peace plan during this conversation.

In recent weeks, the US has again been trying to reach a peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv. As a result of the week-long negotiations, a document was prepared that is more acceptable to Kyiv, but there are several controversial issues, in particular regarding the territory and security guarantees.

On December 8, a meeting between German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and French President Emmanuel Macron took place in London.

After that, Zelenskyi said that from the first to the plan discussed with the Europeans, there is little progress towards a possible end to the war.

It is not known whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to agree to an agreement to end the war. After talks with Trump’s envoys in Moscow last week, the Kremlin said some proposals on the table were acceptable, but rejected others.
