Details: The decision to demolish the monument, which has stood in Mashevo since 1947, was made at the request of the mayor, and the demolition was organized by the Institute of National Memory. Initially, the obelisk was decorated with a Soviet star on top, later it was partially decommunized, replacing it with a sphere. The monument was dismantled on December 10.

The official noted that in recent years, 44 Soviet objects have been removed from public spaces in Poland as part of decommunization measures.
Decommunization in Poland and the Baltic countries intensified after Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine.
In the capital of Latvia, Riga, last year, after long disputes, the monument was dismantled commander of the Russian Empire.
We will remind you that Polejowski was proposed as the new head of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland (this position is vacant due to the election by the President of Poland of the previous head of the institution, Karol Nawrocki), but the Seimas did not support his appointment.
