The police of the Lviv region reported the arrest of a 52-year-old resident of Stryi, suspected of attacking a military TCC officer on December 9.

“On December 9, around 7:30 p.m., special line 102 received a message from the doctors of the Stryi Central District Hospital about a patient who sought help with a fatal chest wound. As determined by the employees of the Stryi district police department, a serviceman of the RTCC and SP received an injury during the implementation of warning measures on Krasivskyi Street in the city of Stryi. Seeing a group of military personnel, a passer-by tried to run away. When one of the servicemen caught up with him, the man hit him in the chest with an ax-hammer-type kitchen tool, the report says.

The police noted that they are investigating a criminal proceeding under the article “Threat or violence against an official or a citizen performing a public duty.” The suspect faces up to five years in prison.

The day before, the operational command “West” reported about the incident. They added that the victim was hospitalized, his life is not in danger.

The “West” command noted that this attack occurred less than a week after the tragedy in Lviv, where a serviceman died from a stab wound.

“We are recording a repetition of a dangerous scenario: aggression against the military ceases to be isolated cases and turns into an alarming trend. In two incidents, citizens deliberately ignored legal requirements, tried to avoid identification, and used physical violence,” the command emphasizes.

After the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, martial law was introduced and general mobilization was announced. Reports of scandals and conflicts between TCC employees and citizens on the streets of towns and villages regularly appear in the Ukrainian information space. Negative information about the mobilization spreads quickly through social networks.

The Ukrainian military and government officials claim that this is the result of the informational and psychological operations of the Russian Federation.
