Kutya and uzvar are the main dishes of the festive table
Wheat kutia (950 g of products) will cost UAH 213.37, becoming the second most expensive dish. The most expensive ingredients: poppy seeds – UAH 72.50 (200 g), walnuts – UAH 68.80, raisins – UAH 24.99 (100 g). The main ingredient – wheat groats – will cost UAH 26.90 (400 g), honey – UAH 18.70 (100 g), and sugar (50 g) – UAH 1.48.
Traditional concoction of dried apples, pears and prunes (600 g per 2 liters of water) costs UAH 118.00.
The most expensive dish is fried fish
Fried fish will cost UAH 346.02: 2 kg of live carp costs UAH 339, flour (200 g) – UAH 7.02.
Borscht is lean
Lean borscht with beans (2.535 kg of products per 2 liters of water) costs UAH 107.79. The most expensive ingredient – dry white beans (300 g) – UAH 51.50. Vegetables: potatoes (362 g) – UAH 5.39, cabbage (300 g) – UAH 3.08, onions (100 g) – UAH 0.74, carrots (400 g) – UAH 4.36, beets (800 g) – UAH 7.78. Tomatoes and tomato paste will cost UAH 8.67 and UAH 11.82, respectively. Additionally: sugar – UAH 1.48, oil – UAH 7.86, pepper, salt, bay leaves and greens – UAH 5.11.
Salad “Vinaigrette”
1.73 kg of products for “Vinaigrette” will cost UAH 49.77, while barrel cucumbers (200 g) will cost UAH 26.80. Vegetables: potatoes (600 g) – UAH 8.94, beets (400 g) – UAH 3.89, carrots (378 g) – UAH 4.12, onions (100 g) – UAH 0.74, dressing with oil – UAH 4.91, salt – UAH 0.37.

“The cost of the Christmas table in 2025 will be UAH 1,374, which is only slightly more expensive than in 2024 (UAH 1,365). Prices for borscht set vegetables have more than halved thanks to a record harvest. Oil (+26.7%), frozen cherries (+25.7%), barrel cucumbers (+25.2%), beans (+18.3%), flour (+17.5%), live carp (+12.6%) and fresh tomatoes (+12.5%) increased in price the most,” the institute concluded.
As a reminder, the temperature in Ukraine during the Christmas and New Year holidays will drop somewhat, but will remain warm for December.
