The leakage of oil products into the Ladyzhyn reservoir from the Ladyzhyn TPP could have occurred due to damage to the plant’s equipment as a result of massive Russian shelling.

This was reported by the TPP press service.

According to the company’s official position, as a result of significant destruction, oil-containing substances could enter engineering communications. Currently, checks and clarification of all the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

After the contamination was discovered, the station’s employees notified the Ecoinspection and the authorities and began work on localization and elimination of the consequences.

The company recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of DTEK thermal power plants, more than 210 strikes have been recorded, and by the middle of 2024, about 90% of thermal generation capacities in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed. Only in October-December 2025, six massive strikes were carried out at the DTEK TPP, during which three energy workers were injured.

Prior to this, the prosecutors of the Haysinsk District Prosecutor’s Office recorded the fact of the release of fuel oil into the waters of the Southern Bug near the Ladyzhinsk TPP. A pre-trial investigation has been launched.

On the coast of the Black Sea, in the village of Zatoka, Odesa region, pollution with a fuel-like substance was again recorded. The State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District does not rule out that these are the consequences of a fuel oil leak from the Russian tankers “Volgoneft-212” and “Volgoneft-239”, the accident of which occurred in December 2024.
