Details: According to the UP, the defense in this section of the Pokrovsky direction was held by the 25th brigade of the DShV and the 68th separate hunter brigade. These are one of the strongest brigades that were established in Pokrovsk more than a year ago and held both their positions and “closed the gaps” between the positions of their allies.
The withdrawal from the positions near Pokrovsk was painful, as one of the commanders tells UP. At the time of the exit, a large part of Pokrovsk was already under the enemy, so it was sometimes necessary to pass through the city with skirmishes.
The decision to withdraw was partially on the shoulders of the infantry commanders themselves, who did not want their men to be surrounded by the enemy.
Why is this important?: The Ukrainian group of troops operating near Pokrovsk and Myrnograd, as well as in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd itself, has been under the so-called drone encirclement of Russian troops since the summer. The occupiers gradually pushed the Ukrainian units to the north and, unfortunately, they succeeded.
As of December 8, most of Pokrovsk is controlled by the enemy. The Russians also penetrated Myrnograd from several sides. The “corridor” through which you can reach Mirnograd is under the partial control of Russian drones.
