The publication notes that although cats may not be able to wag their tails like dogs, their attachment to their human family is deep and is expressed through deliberate actions.
Cat experts noted that these signs are easy to spot, you just need to know what to look for. In total, they identified 7 cute signs that indicate that the cat feels part of your family:
1. Slow blinking
Blinking slowly, often with both eyes, is a sure sign of trust and affection. This non-verbal signal is the way cats communicate with their eyes. It is added that it can be compared to a “cat’s kiss”. Experts advise to strengthen the connection with a pet to respond to this gesture in the same way.
2. A blow to the head
When your cat rubs its head or muzzle against you, it’s not just trying to get to a hard-to-reach place, it’s showing a strong trust in you.
When a cat “marks” its owner with its smell, it creates a “colony” with people and other animals with which it feels safe. Thus, the animal signals that you are part of its immediate environment.
3. Purring
While there are many reasons why cats purr, including self-soothing from pain or stress, in a calm, loving home environment, purring means the cat loves you.
4. “Knead” with paws
This behavior is also a sign of the cat’s trust, showing that it sees you as a parental figure and feels safe, protected and comfortable in the presence of its owner and family members.
5. Takes care of you
Some cats lick you as a sign of affection, while others bring you “trophies”, from toys to hunting gifts. Both behaviors are powerful bonding tools that signal trust and acceptance.
6. Manifestation of vulnerability
Whether they’re showing you their belly, calmly eating in your presence, using the litter tray without hesitation, or simply resting next to you while you watch TV or read a book, it shows that your cat feels safe with you.
7. Out of the tail
Cats “talk” with the help of their tails, and sometimes even their ears. For example, a high or upright tail position is one of the clearest signs of a cat’s trustworthiness, indicating friendliness, confidence, and a good mood. When a cat holds its tail upright near you, it is a clear sign that it feels safe and secure in your presence.
To make the cat feel part of the family, experts advise spending quality time with her, playing, offering cozy places where she can relax next to you, and also talk to her in a soft, soothing tone.
Small daily rituals, such as feeding the cat at the same time or including them in family activities such as watching movies, will also help the cat feel safe and a full member of the family.
