What preceded: It was reported that on Friday, December 5, the Secretary of the National Security Council Rustem Umyerov and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Hnatov are to hold another meeting with the special representative of the US President Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner in Miami.

Before that, the media reported on the end of the meeting between the delegations of Ukraine and the USA.

Prehistory:

  • The day before, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, in a conversation with journalists in Brussels, confirmed that the Ukrainian delegation had received an invitation to the United States. The head of the Ukrainian foreign policy department also noted that Kyiv has not yet received detailed information about the content of the American-Russian talks that took place on Monday in the Kremlin. Sibiga emphasized that there were “objective reasons” for this.
  • Earlier, the media reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi could meet Witkoff and Kushner in Europe on Wednesday, but these plans were canceled.
  • According to the results of negotiations with representatives of Donald Trump’s team, the aide of the Russian ruler, Yuriy Ushakov, said that a compromise version of the plan for ending the war in Ukraine has not yet been found.
  • At the same time, intelligence data available to NATO do not indicate Vladimir Putin’s readiness to conclude a peace agreement. The Alliance is convinced that the Kremlin leader’s statements about Russia’s readiness to fight with European countries are a bluff.
