In an interview with the Polish publication RMF, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, criticized both leaders.

As noted by RMF, not so long ago the President of Poland Karol Nawrocki said that he “demands symmetry” in relations with Ukraine and “expects that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi will express his gratitude” to the Poles for the support he received and will himself come to Warsaw to meet with him. Navrotskyi also likes to raise the topic of the Volyn tragedy, for which he blames the Ukrainians.

At the same time, RMF reminds that Zelenskyi has repeatedly publicly thanked Poland for its support. But on the other hand, the president of Ukraine regularly crosses the territory of Poland during his foreign business trips, but he has never met the new Polish president.

The chief diplomat of Poland criticized the behavior of both politicians.

“I am disgusted by such persistent demands for apologies and honors in a situation where they are fighting for their lives. But on the other hand, President Zelenskyi’s crown would not have fallen off his head if, while passing through Poland, he had asked for a visit to the Presidential Palace,” said Radoslav Sikorskyi.

To the journalist’s remark that, according to the rules of diplomacy, the newly elected president visits a “senior” colleague, and not vice versa, Sikorsky replied that in war conditions, their own rules apply.

“I hope this is not a reason to show our dislike for a country that is fighting bravely and keeping Putin’s troops away from our borders,” added the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.

Politics of Poland: the latest newsAs UNIAN wrote, anti-Ukrainian sentiments are gaining momentum in Poland. In particular, there is a significant increase in the number of cases of verbal and physical aggression against Ukrainians in Poland. Sociologists warn that anti-Ukrainian pogroms are not far away.

At the same time, sociologists say that to a large extent these aggressive attitudes are fueled by Polish politicians who have ridden the wave of right-wing populism. Even Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was publicly indignant about this.
