Details: Five drones were discovered Thursday evening over the Ile-Long submarine base in Brittany, western France, the gendarmerie said.

This is a strategic military facility where submarines with ballistic missiles are located. Drone flights are prohibited in this zone.
An anti-drone system and search operations were deployed. Military personnel responsible for guarding the base fired several shots at the drones. It is not known whether any of them were shot down.
The Ile Long base maintains four French nuclear submarines, at least one of which is permanently at sea to maintain nuclear deterrence.
According to French media reports, drones were already spotted in the area last month, although not directly over the base.
The incident follows a series of recent drone incursions into NATO airspace, with unmanned aerial vehicles flying around important military sites and civilian infrastructure across Europe in recent months, including in Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Norway.
In particular, the German authorities repeatedly warnedthat drones pose a security threat, following a series of incursions around airports and military facilities this year.
German government approved changes to the Law about the federal police, so that cops can better counter drones.
