21 countries have already joined the program for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine within the framework of the PURL mechanism, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

“More than four billion dollars have been committed to be allocated by partners for the purchase of arms from the USA for Ukraine within the framework of the PURL initiative. This week, our partners announced new contributions: $500 million from Norway, Poland and the Netherlands; 200 million dollars from Germany; 200 million Canadian dollars from Canada. In addition, Australia and New Zealand joined PURL this week, announcing a contribution of more than $70 million. Thus, the initiative now covers the partners of our state all over the world,” Shmyhal wrote in a telegram on December 5.

He noted that since the beginning of the PURL initiative, it has provided about 75% of all missiles for Patriot systems and about 90% of missiles for other air defense systems supplied to Ukraine.

In the summer of this year, the USA and NATO concluded the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) agreement, which provides for sending American weapons to Ukraine at the expense of European countries, and NATO coordinates the process.
