Magnetic storms are able to change atmospheric pressure, so some people may experience headaches, increased fatigue and emotional stress during such periods.
This was reported by NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).
The level of geomagnetic activity is measured on a scale from 0 to 9. For this, the planetary K-index is used: an indicator of 5 and above means a powerful magnetic storm.
December 5
On Friday, December 5, increased solar activity with a K-index of 4 (yellow level) is expected. This indicator corresponds to average magnetic storms.
December 6
Moderate geomagnetic activity with a K-index of 3.7 (green level) is forecast for Saturday, December 6, indicating weak magnetic storms.
It is important to note that forecasts can change, as solar activity experts update data every three hours. Therefore, it is recommended to regularly check the current information.

A magnetic storm is the reaction of the Earth’s magnetosphere to flares and explosions on the Sun. During these processes, a large amount of energy is released in the form of charged particles — electrons and protons. When they reach Earth, there are oscillations that are recorded as solar or magnetic storms.
The K-index is used to determine the strength of geomagnetic disturbances. Small fluctuations between 1 and 4 are usually not noticeable to most people. If the value exceeds 5, storms go into the “red level” and can significantly affect well-being and the operation of technical systems. Powerful storms with a K-index of 7–8 are capable of causing communication disruptions and even forming auroras.
During the period of magnetic storms, the atmospheric pressure changes, which can provoke headache, fatigue, irritability and mild stress. There are no special drugs against the effects of magnetic storms, but the symptoms can be alleviated with the usual means recommended by a doctor.
