However, the well-known Belgian analyst Mark Degriz urges the young talent to refrain from transferring to the Premier League at this stage of his career. Degriz is convinced that the physical and tactical intensity of English football can harm a young player’s development. Instead, he advises choosing the German championship as an intermediate stage.
“If I were in De Kata’s place, I would first go to Germany before moving to the Premier League. You shouldn’t immediately try to get to, for example, Manchester City. It’s better to become a main player in a serious league for several seasons, and only then, at the age of 22 or 23, take a step to the real top,” said Degriz in an interview with Voetbal Primeur.
De Kath, who has been compared to Jury Tielemans and Leander Dendoncker for his style of play, is having a breakout season in Belgium. His confidence, ball control and defensive intelligence have attracted the attention of Tottenham, Aston Villa and Brighton. Clubs see it as a long-term investment.
Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are also monitoring the player. Anderlecht, although not determined to sell the player in the winter window, are ready to consider offers in the region of 25-30 million euros.
