Oleksandr USYK: “There are some people in Ukraine who don’t like me”

The world champion in super heavyweight spoke about the attitude of Ukrainians to his achievements”, — write: sport.ua

WBC, WBA and IBF super heavyweight world champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) talked about the attitude of Ukrainians to his achievements in the professional ring.

– A modest guy from Ukraine won an Olympic medal, won the cruiserweight division, and twice won the super heavyweight division. Now you are close to Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Tyson. What does this mean for you and your country?

– For the majority of the population of my country, this is an incredible performance that I made. They support me, they are my fans who protect me.

However, there are some people who do not like me – they say that I could do a lot more or do something else altogether. Despite this, I only focus on those who support me. But I also think about those who do not love me, because I pray for them that they will not be angry with themselves.

I love my country, because I was born in Ukraine, it was before me and will be after. At this moment, when I am a citizen of this country, I must pull it up with all my might, Usyk concluded.

The WBC allowed Usyk to choose his opponent. Wilder or the champion from Germany?
