Details: Lithuania’s national emergency management said the airspace over the airport was closed from 7:36 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. due to a “hybrid attack by Belarus against Lithuania, civil aviation and society, as well as the detection of navigational signals characteristic of balloons.”

On December 2, Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginene said that her country may close the border with Belarus again if balloon smuggling continues to enter the country. At the same time, Ruginene emphasized that the re-closing of the border with Belarus must be closely coordinated with the USA.
And the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, Vladyslav Kondratovych, said that in connection with the threat of weather probes smuggled from Belarus, the country is considering the possibility of introducing a state of emergency.
After that, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the chargé d’affaires of Belarus and handed him a note of protest against the background of systematic hybrid attacks.
