Ukrainian citizens working abroad began to send less money to their homeland. In October, the volume of private remittances decreased by 7.1% and amounted to 0.7 billion US dollars.
This is reported by the National Bank of Ukraine.
According to the NBU, the salary that Ukrainians receive from abroad has decreased by 25.3%.
At the same time, other private transfers received through official channels, on the contrary, increased by 18.3%.
The National Bank notes that the total volume of transfers through official channels remained almost unchanged — it remained at the level of October 2024, having decreased by only 0.9%.
Transfers through informal channels decreased significantly more – by 16.2% in annual terms.
“Over the period from January to October 2025, the volume of remittances decreased by 12.1% and amounted to 7.0 billion US dollars: net wages decreased by 19.8%, and private transfers decreased by **2.3%,” the NBU publication states.
