The WBC allowed Usyk to choose his opponent. Wilder or the champion from Germany?

From November 30 to December 5, the Congress of the World Boxing Council (WBC) takes place in Bangkok (Thailand). One of the main events of the year in world boxing was attended by champions of various weight categories, trainers, officials and promoters from all over the world.

The day before, the decision of the rating committee of the organization became known regarding the championship title in super heavyweight (over 90.7 kg), which is held by Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs).

The committee left the rating in the royal division unchanged, giving the Ukrainian boxer a choice – either to enter the ring against the former world champion, the American Deontay Wilder; or take a fight against interim titleholder Agit Kabayel of Germany.

The representative of the USA had his last fight on June 27, when he knocked out his compatriot Tyrell Herndon in the seventh round. Kabael will enter the ring on January 10, 2026 against the undefeated Polish boxer Damian Knyba.
