Norway rejected the possibility of agreements with the Kremlin like “new Yalta”

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide said before the start of the NATO meeting that the European member states of NATO are convinced that any schemes for the division of Europe, like the Yalta agreements after the Second World War, are not acceptable.

Details: According to the minister, Europe must and will insist on its conditions, as it is not only about the security of Ukraine. “The key issue is for the peace to be just and lasting. This is a question of the future of Ukraine, but it is also a question of the future of Europe,” he explained.

The minister emphasized that now both on the battlefield in Ukraine and during the “peace negotiations” the security architecture of the whole of Europe is being determined.

“Wars always end, but after every war there is a post-war era, and it lasts longer than any war. And the security architecture is built not only after the war, but also in the final stages of the war, so our task is to keep Ukraine strong,” he said, emphasizing once again that “the security infrastructure of Europe is determined by the war in Ukraine.”
