Ministry of Health: from January 1, 2026, the vaccination calendar will change in Ukraine

The main change concerns the introduction of a one-time free vaccination against HPV (human papilloma virus) for girls aged 12-13 years”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

As of January 1, 2026, the calendar of preventive vaccinations is changing in Ukraine, the Ministry of Health reports.

The updated calendar will cover mandatory vaccination against 11 infectious diseases: tuberculosis, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, HIV infection and human papillomavirus (HPV).

The Ministry of Health notes that the main change concerns the introduction of a one-time free vaccination against HPV (human papillomavirus) for girls aged 12-13 years – for this, the most modern 9-valent vaccine has already been purchased.

“There is also a change in the vaccination scheme against viral hepatitis B: vaccination will be carried out at 2-4-6-18 months. Such a scheme will allow the use of modern combined vaccines against several infectious diseases at the same time (AKDP+Hib+HBV), which will reduce the number of injections for a child and the number of visits to a medical facility. Currently, vaccination against viral hepatitis B is carried out separately according to the scheme: on the 1st day, and then at 2 and 6 months,” the message reads.

The scheme of vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) also provides for age changes: vaccinations will be given at 1 and 4 years of age – instead of the current 1 and 6 years – this will ensure protection of children at an earlier age, prevent the severe course of the disease and the development of complications, the Ministry of Health expects.

In 2026 BCG vaccination – against tuberculosis – will be carried out 24 hours after the birth of a child, and not on the 3-5th day of life, the ministry adds.

Children in Ukraine receive free vaccinations against the 10 most dangerous infections. Vaccination is provided at the primary level as part of a declaration with a doctor. According to the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of 2025, children in Ukraine have already received almost 2 million vaccinations.
