After that meeting, Rubio said that progress had been made, but there was still a lot of work to do.
He said that US officials “have been in contact with the Russian side to varying degrees, but we also understand their point of view quite well.”
CNN adds that it is not known whether Kushner will accompany Witkoff to Russia. Last week, President Donald Trump suggested that his son-in-law might travel to Moscow with a special envoy.
During a conversation with reporters, Trump confirmed that Witkoff and Putin are scheduled to meet. He did not specify when exactly the meeting will take place, noting: “Sometime next week” (Trump said this on Sunday, November 30 local time – ed.).
We will remind: On Friday, November 28, the press secretary of the ruler of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, reported that Putin plans to meet in Mostva with the special envoy of the US president, Steve Witkoff, in the first half of next week.
Prehistory:
- On Sunday, negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations regarding the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war took place in the United States.
- According to the publication Axios, the US at the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Miami on Sunday sought to approve two key issues that remain unresolved – regarding territories and security guarantees.
- According to The Wall Street Journal, Ukrainian and American delegations discussed in Florida, in particular, the timing of elections in Ukraine.
