Podrez defeated the Frenchwoman and entered the main draw of the WTA 125 tournament in Angers

18-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Veronika Podrez (WTA 299) entered the main draw of the WTA 125 tournament in Angers (France), which is held on indoor hard surfaces.

In the only qualification match, the Ukrainian beat the representative of France and the 431st racket of the world in two sets Amandine Monnot in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

In the first game, Veronika trailed 1:3 with a break, but managed to make a comeback, in particular, by playing two hidden set balls in the eighth game.

Podrez held a second face-to-face confrontation against Monno and won the second. On October 2, Veronika beat Amandine at the 75,000th race in Reims.

For the second time in her career, Podreza will play in the main event of the WTA 125 category. In 2023, she left the WTA 125 tournament in Limoges in the first round after losing to Anna Blinkova.

Veronika will find out her opponent in the round of 16 later. Among the possible options: another tennis player from qualification, sixth seed Zhang Shuai (WTA 102) and Alina Charaeva (WTA 161).
