The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced two new decisions on sanctions aimed at increasing pressure on the Russian military machine. A key step was the synchronization of restrictions with the United States of America. Ukraine introduced sanctions against the largest players in the Russian energy sector.

According to the president, sanctions have been imposed against Rosneft and its enterprises, as well as companies belonging to the Lukoil group. “Now, sanctions against these companies are already significantly depriving the Russian war machine of money, and this must be continued,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
In addition to energy giants, Ukraine is imposing sanctions against “Russian killers who organize the systematic destruction of Ukrainians with drones.” The purpose of this step is to make Ukrainian sanctions common with partners so that “the world pressures the aggressor exactly as it is needed to weaken Russia’s ability to fight.”
The President defined the key directions of the sanctions policy until the end of 2025, including the further synchronization of sanctions with partners, the preparation of the 20th EU sanctions package, and the strengthening of restrictions against the “shadow fleet”, Russian military production, as well as collaborators and propagandists.
Analysts note that “ Lukoil » faced almost complete paralysis in foreign markets. According to experts, the Russian company maybe to lose assets for 14 billion euros after the US blocked an attempt by the Swiss trader Gunvor to acquire Lukoil International.
It will be recalled that Iraq is discussing with the US the temporary lifting of sanctions against Lukoil for the sale of a stake in West Qurna-2.
