If they came for just the person of the president, it means that the goal is precisely the balance of power, the strengthening of the anti-corruption branch of government at the expense of the presidential branch. Is there a certain pressure on the authorities with the aim of forcing the authorities to change certain actions, including the continuation of the war against anti-corruption structures. This means that this struggle will continue until the parties come to an agreement or a new balance is found.
This means that what is at stake is the weakening of the presidential vertical — or its strengthening as a result of this struggle. This applies to everything, both domestic and foreign policy. If they came for the head of the negotiating delegation, and our American partners are behind it, for example, then the confrontation will continue until Ukraine changes its policy and agrees to everything. Until one Yermak is replaced by another Yermak, who will balance the interests of the President of Ukraine and key donors of Ukraine.
It cannot be ruled out that the interests of external and internal forces situationally coincided. In any case, this is an unprecedented case. I don’t remember a case when the acting head of the Office of the President or the head of the President’s Administration, as it used to be called, was searched. This will affect the negotiation process, financing and support of Ukraine. This does serious damage to Zelenskyi’s political prospects, although much still depends on how he responds to this challenge.
