In the framework of the 5th round of the main stage of the Champions League, Sporting Lisbon confidently defeated Belgian Brugge with a score of 3:0 at the home stadium of Jose Alvalade. The visitors came to the match after a sensational victory over Barcelona, but they failed to repeat their success in Portugal.

The start of the match had its dramatic moment: the referee initially showed a straight red for a foul by the captain of Sporting Ullmann, but after reviewing the VAR, he changed the decision to a yellow. The episode added to the intensity of the match — the teams stepped up and quickly exchanged dangerous moments.

Sporting gradually seized the initiative and converted it into a goal. After a save by Yakers, Kenda was the first to finish, opening the scoring. And soon, the Lisbon team launched a perfect counterattack: Suarez came face to face with the goalkeeper and elegantly tipped it over — 2:0.

In the second half, Brugge significantly improved ball control and pressing. The Belgians created several sharp moments, but the implementation failed. Sporting could have closed the game even earlier: Suarez beat the goalkeeper after a quick counterattack, but the Brugge defender managed to knock the ball into the post.

Despite the advantage of the guests in possession of the ball, it was Sporting who put the real point. After Kenda Trinkau’s cross, he found himself unguarded in the penalty area and confidently shot into the far corner – 3:0. The Lisbon team calmly brought the match to the final whistle, not allowing Brugge to come close to a comeback.
