The head coach of Shakhtar Arda Turan gave a press conference on the eve of the match of the 4th round of the UEFA Conference League against the Irish Shamrock Rovers.

“We will face an opponent with a coach who played more than 400 matches at the club. They have a championship character in their DNA. We will play against champions, so it is very important to act accordingly on the field,” Turan said.

The coach emphasized that a victory in this match will allow Shakhtar to get closer to entering the playoffs of the tournament:

“First we want to control the game and only then get points. Dreams of Europe are important to us, and we strive to set an example for the children and youth of Ukraine,” said Turan.

According to him, the confidence of the team increased after the success in the championship of Ukraine:

“We know where we are and where we are going, and that helps us keep the right mentality in any situation,” he added.

Regarding the team for the game, the coach said that there will be no surprises for the press:

“I’ve got 24 great players and I’ll pick the best XI against the Irish champions. Izaki will play – it’s not a surprise to me, he’s a gem.”

Turan also shared his thoughts on Ukrainian music and art, emphasizing the strength of the spirit of Ukrainians:

“We live in conditions of war, but Ukrainians continue to work, create and support each other. This inspires both me and my team.”

“Our goal is not only to get into the top eight, but also to give young players valuable experience. We are moving step by step, game by game,” Turan summed up.

The Shakhtar vs Shamrock Rovers match will take place on Thursday, November 27 at 10:00 p.m.
