Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko reported that Ukraine and the IMF have reached staff-level agreements on a new support program.

Svyridenko’s direct speech: “The week of active work of the mission of the International Monetary Fund led by the head of the mission Mr. Gavin Gray in Kyiv ended with a good result.”

Details: According to her, the total volume of the program is 8.2 billion dollars for 4 years. The program is expected to help finance critical expenditures, maintain macro-financial stability and attract additional external support, which is critical for us in the coming years.

“The agreement still needs to be approved by the Board of Executive Directors of the IMF,” Svyridenko said.

Also, Svyridenko, speaking about Ukraine’s cooperation with the IMF, noted that, first of all, the IMF confirmed the stability of the Ukrainian economy. “Despite the blow to energy and infrastructure, the economy is working, and Ukraine demonstrates the ability to manage risks and maintain stability in the most difficult conditions,” she said.

Secondly, the Prime Minister reminded, the government prepared the 2026 budget in accordance with the framework of the new IMF program — with an emphasis on the efficiency of spending every hryvnia. “We count on the support of people’s deputies during the approval of the draft state budget as a whole,” said Svyridenko.

In addition, the head of the government noted that the country continues the course of reforms. “Our priorities remain unchanged: macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, transparency and strong institutions. We are ready to continue implementing policies to combat the shadow economy, combat corruption and strengthen governance in the public sector. In particular, the reboot of corporate governance in state-owned enterprises is ongoing and the competition for the post of head of customs continues,” she said.
