Details: Commenting on Russia’s position on the inadmissibility of Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance, Rutte said that “Russia has no right to vote or veto on who can be a member of NATO.”

“But membership in the Alliance requires unanimity. At the summit in Washington, we decided that Ukraine’s path to NATO is irreversible. At the same time, several allies, in particular the United States, declared that they are currently against Ukraine’s accession,” he added.

According to the Secretary General, in the context of Trump’s “peace plan”, Ukraine needs to be given “sufficiently reliable security guarantees” so that Russia will never again try to attack it if NATO membership “is not an option”.

It will be recalled that one of the points of the “peace plan”, which the American side began to promote, predicted establishing the impossibility of Ukraine joining NATO.

According to the mass media, the question of membership in the Alliance still remains subject of discussion between Ukraine and the USA.
